Course 1

Children and Young People’s Participation and Wellbeing (ISR-001)

Children and young people’s experiences and perspectives contribute significantly to new knowledge and enhance the communities and services children engage with. One of the pillars of young people’s safety and mental wellbeing is being listened to and actively participating in the communities and institutions they are members of.

This 6-module online course provides practical and conceptual tools to adults who work with children.  The course explores ways of engaging best-practice methods and guidelines to support change towards meaningful involvement of young people. It also explores the social, legal and conceptual significance of young people’s participation from the perspectives of culture, law, social justice, environment and wellbeing.  The course is designed for adults working with diverse young people: educators, early childhood educators, health providers, carers (including out-of-home care), parents and community service organisations. A certificate of completion is provided.
